Trauma-Informed Body Work

Anne Von denMeer

Anne Von denMeer is a licensed massage therapist in the State of Michigan. Additionally, she has trained in Upledger Craniosacral Therapy and is a Reiki Master. Anne is also a trauma survivor and has spent many years in healing, which has led to her development of this bodywork protocol. As a survivor, she understands too well that trauma is often stored and overlooked in the body and hopes to ameliorate this situation by working with therapists and helping their clients progress on their own healing journey. As a professional, she understands that she is not a psychotherapist and has no desire for her healing touch to be anything other than complementary to the therapeutic journey.

Anne has studied trauma theory extensively and has based much of her practice on the work of Bessel Van der Kolk, Stephen Porgess and John Upledger. She has benefited greatly from talk psychotherapy and EMDR, as well as, somatic practices such as trauma-informed yoga, qigong and meditation. She speaks publicly about her journey through the misdiagnosis of her trauma, the experience of almost dying from this misdiagnosis and her eventual integration of her traumatic past and recovery.
